Hello Tinboats,
I grew up fishing in the gulf of mexico, on larger boats for bigger fish. Now, due to career/circumstance I find myself land-locked in the great state of Arizona. I wont stop fishing, and I plan on taking advantage of all the beautiful lakes within striking distance. I actually live down the street from a small man-made "lake" home to state record Large and Small-mouth Bass, Tilapia, Carp, Shad, and Catfish.
After hunting for a few months on craigslist I happened upon this old beauty.
1972 Ouachita 14', Part of what drew me to this boat, was the fact that it is comprised of two stamped pieces of aluminum welded together right in the middle, with minimum rivets. The boat was advertised as bone dry. Here are some more pictures.
In the mail, I have Minn Kota 55lb thrust 12Volt Saltwater trolling motor, which will be my main power, with two deep cycle batteries.
Work I will be doing to this boat include, first, building false floors in the bow, and middle area. Im going to be using reclaimed wood, and doing classic marine decking, in strips. Should look good!
I will also be sanding, and re-painting the boat, installing two seats, rod holders, and some form of shade.
The main question of have for the community is, what size outboard shall I look for, as I plan on picking one up.
