So I finally bought my first boat. Its a 1973 Lowe 14' V Bottom, came with a 1992 Mercury 8HP which is in pretty good shape (starts on the first pull).
My plans are:
1. Take off all paint - going to bare metal cause its flaking everywhere
2. Wire brush the interior
3. Fix the leaks (leaking in 2 spots, one front, one rear)
4. Prime (already bought some Mar Hyde Self Etching Primer)
5. Paint - Going with Parker Hunter Green for exterior and Parker Sand Tan for interior
6. Cut access in center bench for batteries and add a hinged plywood lid (carpeted)
7. Put plywood deck (carpeted) over front two benches with storage area in the space between those seats
8. Add plywood floors with carpeting
I plan on taking it out a few times after Step 5 to see how she handles and if there are more leaks under stress
