i just got a 1974 lonestar 14ft vhull with a 9.9hp johnson. i got the boat to do some diving in the gulf of mexico. i took it out last saterday with 4 people on it in the gulf and it honestly was amazing for a small boat.. other than being super underpowered.i searched all over this site and other sites and cant find any info on my boat. im looking to do a center console set up but iv never done any thing like this before. can some one help me?

thanks so much for getting back to me. your link was every thing i wanted to see. my boat is set up for cable steering and already has pullys and throtle mount for a side console. the boat is wide enuf to get around in with the center console so that will not be a problem. i did some research last night and found a rack and pinion steering for 113.how hard is it to get the pully steering to work and what would be better to use out in the gulf?

Pulley steering is really simple but if a pulley comes loose, or cable breaks your motor will most likely make a full turn quickly. At full throttle it could be dangerous on a big motor. Push pull like teleflex is best IMO but getting it connected to your motor can be tough if it's not designed for it. If your motor doesn't have a steering tube you can always get an aftermarket one as well but they aren't cheap. Rack Pinoin steering is for bigger motors, bit much for 9.9.
