1974 StarCraft Sea Scout 16 restore/repower

I just purchased this boat and joined the group. Hello! I will be reinforcing the mid section and transom as well as repairing leaks near bow presumably caused by the boat flexing due to removal of center bench/support by previous owner. I have not yet decided on tiller control vs remote steering and throttle. I would love some opinions and success stories if anyone would be willing to share. Thank you all!
