Picked up a 14' Jon, trailer, and 3hp Evinrude for $450 locally. Decided to do a few "bass fishing" like modifications to it, primarily a foot controlled trolling motor with a front casting deck on it.
I don't have many pictures of the substructure on the front. It's basically 3/4" ply with some 2x4 scrap wood substructure. It's more stout than I thought it would be. It never creaks/groans and I've jumped on it, had multiple people on it, holds up well. The front has a hatch that is just hinged and rests on the front bench to help support weight. The rear is very similar. I am looking to add another battery to it, bilge pump, and possibly build a carpeted floor with the extra plywood I still have.
Built/added a front winch mount and a swing-tire since I bought it as well.
So far it has done me very well. I added the $100 43# trolling motor, put an impeller in the 3hp, and added a Humminbird 570 DownImaging front sonar to it. Working out well for me!
