You said treated wood....It doesn't look like pressure treated but I figured I would mention not to use any pressure treated as I have heard it will attack the metal of the boat.....

Other than that ...nice job on scrounging stuff...I was doing that yesterday on an old fiberglass boat I am trashing...it had alot of aluminum on it I maybe able to use and some cleats etc I stole off it as well as stainless hardware. Might as well reuse what I can before I get rid of it.

Looking forward to your build...BTW I like those seats...

Wow the wood for the frames is treated. Guess I figured treated wood would be better. Wasn't aware of the corrosion issues until I saw your reply. Unfortunately I probably won't have time to redo before we leave Thursday for the weekend.

looking good so far! What do you mean by treated wood? Treated with a poly or stain of some sort?

PM me if you want to move this thread into the boat project section.

This is the stamp on my scrounged lumber that i used for my framing

I am assuming that ht stands for heat treated.?
Is that the same as pressure treated? and will it have the same corrosive effects?

Here are a couple pic of our progress yesterday of the plywood cut and fit with the access panels cut out.
floors (600x800).jpgcasting deck (600x800).jpg

We started coating everything with spar varnish.
Couple more coats today and tomorrow we wrap the ply install and mount the seats and my dads old trolling motor that i fixed.

the wood is fine in my opinion. It is southern pine from what I read on google. Check out this link: https://www.thisoldhouse.com/toh/article/0,,1639800,00.html

Here is a pic of my trolling motor. Its not fancy but it was free.

Four coats of spar on all the wood. laid the last coat on thick.

Tomorrow will probably be a late night. I have to wrap the the carpet and vinyl and install everything.
Does anyone have any advise for what type of glue to use on the carpet?
Would regular contact cement or carpet glue work alright?

Looking good. Some folks have successfully used contact cement - it is one option.

Your framework is not pressure treated, you are good on that.

i have some spray glue that i was able to acquire. do you think that will work as long as i staple it underneath? i have these staples.

the package doesnt say what type of metal they r made of. i'm afraid they will rust.
is there a different type? i know that what ever type was used on the vinyl seats on my dads pontoon boat rusted and has to be fixed.

Got alot done tonight. we wrapped the floors with vinyl. wrapped the casting deck with carpet. and we figured out the access panels. we were initially going to hinge them and put a recessed pull knob on them. i couldnt find hardware that i liked at the hardware store. only bulky recessed rings that were for gates or something. thought i was going to go to bass pro tomorrow before we left.
i found some nylon strap that worked out great!! we left the panels snug and ditched the hinge idea.
couldnt be happier with how it turned out.
now i wish we had time to cover the back and middle seats w/ plywood and carpet.
we also mounted the front seat pedestal.
here are a couple picks i took (working in the dark)

couple last minute things to do after work before we leave. (trolling motor mount, cup holders, rod holders and battery mount under the access panels) We will be on the water early friday morning.

hopefully have some pics of some fish to post. thanks to you guys for your help. glad i found this site!

Looking good! I had the same dilemma with regard to a hatch handle...decided to go with a strap as well. Nothing looked nice at a decent price. Did you just attach yours with small screws or something?

How did you attach the floor to the boat?
As of right now the floor isnt attached. every thing is just fit really snug. The plywood is screwed to the frames with stainless screws and grommets. The plan is to screw the frames to the aluminum seats today after work before we hit the road. It worked out nice, leaving the original seats to keep everything solid and the factory foam is still under the seats

There is a picture of the hatch lids laying on the table that shows them. One is flipped so you can see the screws and grommets. I used two in each strap.
