Took the boat out in the back bays for the 1st time today to fish the outgoing tide. Fished 1:30-5. Pull up to the 1st spot, 1st cast, hooked up on a short flounder about 16''. Got me pumped for the day. Few casts later, somethin' slams my bucktail, drag starts SCREAMING..frickin 30+lb cownose :x It was a fun fight for the 1st 10 mins. I know many ppl just cut em right away but I figured I'd see what happened, well I get it to the boat & it FREAKS & starts flappin fins like crazy, soaks us. Definitely a funny moment til it ran again & I said f it, enjoy your new Spro tail jewelry. All in all, stuck 10 other shorts on tails & gulp, ran aground once & almost went for a swim, learned a lot for next time, good & bad. Managed to catch one 18.5'' keeper along the way for dinner tomorrow. 8)
