'70 polarkraft 1648 '98 50 hp johnson

hi all, i have a question maybe someone could help me with. I have a '98 50 hp johnson that i bought for my '70 polarcraft 1648. I am in the process of redoing the decks and the wiring. my old motor gave out so i purchased this one but it was just the motor only. i bought seperate controls off CL and it came without the harness or trim. I bought the harness from a local marine store and in the process of ordering the trim. My question is, where the harness connects to the controls, on the harness there are three connections for the control side but my controls only have two, the ignition and the trim(on order). Can someone please tell me what the connection is for and if i have to have it connected to run motor properly. here are a few pics.

Im such a dumba$$, i didnt even look in the box that the wire came in, it had the instructions on how to hook it all up. I was trying to do it backwards. I looked everywhere on the internet for these and found them nowhere, so i will upload the instructions for everyone else to go by so they are not searching endlessly for an answer. Thanks anyways guys, love this site.
