My uncle owns a bait shop and comes across some odd stuff at times. He was talking with one of his regulars a while back. The guy was pretty old and stated that he had a couple of old outboard's he didn't want any more, and wanted to know if my uncle would buy them from him. Well my uncle went to the guys house a few days later and to his surprise found this old gem. He gave the man $150.00 for two motors, A older johnson 10hp, and this prototype jet motor!!!!! The man told him it was a evinrude powerhead, with a custom built propulsion system. The guy worked for some company that tried their hand at jet motors for a while, but they folded early on, and the guy was able to snatch one off the floor before leaving!!!...... I'm guessing They never got to production becuase of the wierd propulsion. Kinda like using a fire hose to move a boat... :shock:My uncle put it in a barrel just to see if it ran, and when it fired right up, he said it drained the barrel of water in less than one second and almost shoot the barrel over. He shut it down instantly... :LOL2:

Notice where the water shoots out, and I would imagine they had problems with this pick up method.

Out board jet company was out Indianapolis in the mid 60's. The motor is their own design, nothing to do with OMC.

Thank you for posting the link.... I'll have to tell the uncle that his source is wrong about its history. Cool though that he has it. He had a guy offer him 1500 for it a few weeks ago and he said no thanks. lol I would of sold it.
