Would a 14' flat bottom jon with a 34" wide floor be decently stable? I came across this boat for sale today, and I'm worried it may be too tippy. It would just be used for a couple small lakes I fish with trolling motor only. I mainly fish sitting down, but I do like to stand for a few minutes now and then due to back pain. Thanks.

i have a 14 foot flat bottom with a floor that is only 32 inches wide and it is not too bad, i think yours will be fine, just remember when you stand up, stand up in the middle of the boat................Mike

I have a 1436. Its fairly stable. I can stand for a while comfortable if Im by myself, if my daughter goes along then we stay seated. Its not real easy to change seats between use. I finally got a transom mount tm so I can operate the tm and tiller outboard without switching seats back to front. I would rather use the bow mount tm for boat control but its just easier and safer not changing seats.

If your daughter isn't too young, have her operate the front TM. Just do it on a calm day that you don't really care about catching anything. Start her on some driving practice in the middle of the lake/pond for some handling orientation. If you do catch anything let her know it was because of her expert boat handling skills.
