I inherited this old boat and motor from the wife's grandpa. I figured I'd post some pictures of the boat and motor build. The motor is a 69 johnson 9.5 that i got in very poor condition. It didn't run, the foot was full of rust, missing plenty of parts, and overall probably not worth fixing, but somehow its running now.

Great work!
About to reprint a 1648: what did you use to strip thre boat down to bare aluminum ?

Do you have a play by play of your process?

Will a couple gallons of rustolum and some kind of sprayer get the job done ??

Thank you. I used the black oil based rustoleum to paint it. I put 3 coats on the outside and it used a little less than a gallon. I used the roll and tip method over spraying. It came out nice, but spraying probably would have looked better. To strip it, i went to advance, and got some aircraft stripper. I tried both the spray can and the liquid, the liquid was way better. Just took it to a car wash, painted the stripper on, and sprayed it off. then i got a paint stripping wheel and spent the next week sanding all the little parts. I used herculiner truck bed liner on the inside. one gallon was not enough, and it was 140 per gallon.
