Alumacraft? 16' just the beginning....Done

I took home this awesome Craigslist find for $250 bucks with a trailer and an older 18hp Evinrude that runs! I got her home changed the plugs, lower unit oil, and mixed up fresh gas and she fired up on the first pull! I was pretty excited that she runs and took her fishing the very next morning. She ran great all day. Let me know what you guys think.

You got an awesome deal! I have been looking for one of those K models. What year is it? I have a lot of the alumacraft catalogs and specifications on this boat. Let me know if you want them, or I could just post them here...

I have nearly the same boat, just two feet shorter than yours. I found one K model for $400 and no trailer but it was up in Tennessee and out of range for me. And I found another in Tampa for $600.00 which I passed on. You got a killer deal!

I have a 1952 Model K that I just finished myself. Damn near used the same colors too!!!

Hey guys sorry I haven't been checking my post. I have been working every night to get this thing ready for this weekend.

My title says is a 2003 Homemade Boat. Lol. The only reason I had any idea it might be a alumacraft is because when I started stripping it I noticed it had an oval discoloration near the stern. I figured it had to be an Alumacraft. If you guys can help identify the boat that would be awesome.

Also, the motor I am having a hard time figuring out what year it is also. I think I have it narrowed down to 55-68 Evinrude 18hp Fastwin. Don't know much after that. No plates anywhere. I want to pick up an impeller or water pump so and replace.

Quick update. Started working on the trailer while the boat was drying. Someone asked what kind of paint I used, I just painted it with rustoleum oil based paint. Who knows how long it will last but it definitely looks better than it did. It was pink before, whoever did that I don't know. I don't want to spend too much time on the boat in the middle of July when I can be fishing..

Motor should be mid 60's and up. Look for casting numbers on base plate. I know my is a 60 and it has the older square top.

She is done. Sorry for just before and after and not during. I did most of this in one night by headlamp because I wanted to go fishing the next day. She came out pretty awewome. Fishes like a dream. Not bad for 250 bucks. I think total I have about 500 including the initial purchase. I had literally everything laying around besides the carpet.

Gorgeous! What a budget too. I'm going through a similar build, have almost everything laying around. Can't believe you did it with a headlamp haha that's awesome! But hey, when fishing calls! Looks to be the perfect size for 2 people. fish on!
