I had one like that. First, I cleaned the corroded areas and sprayed aluminum primer and paint, then I laminated a piece of 1/2" PVC trim board with routed edges over it to look factory. Used E6000 around the perimeter and all around each hole and secured it with a few recessed SS screws. Never had an issue after that.
