Hello, we recently acquired this boat and I'm trying to figure out what model it is EXACTLY and what Exact year it was produced. The best I've come up with so far is the early 1960s. I've looked at the wiki files within this group and have come close- I think. We were given the boat, it's got a rather colorful history that spans at least 2 states. These were made in Michigan, but the company didn't seem to last very long.
The serial # gets me close to a model year... but the plate appears like it might have a missing digit. There's nothing behind the screw that is legible to read. At one point though it's obvious someone removed the ID plate and put it back on with screws- Not into the rivet holes.
M2 ? 58782
However, there appears to be some semblance of a digit between the M2 and the 58782.
It could be a 5, but nothing comes up with that ID.
The boat does not leak, and cleaned up nicely- it needs a little more love cosmetically- but overall the kids and I think it's a solid boat. It's stamped with a Max of 10 HP. From what I've read though, people are putting 15 to 25 HP on similar sized boats. I don't want to go warp speed, but also don't want to take forever to get there. Originally I was thinking something around 5 HP- but I'd there's 3 of us, then 10 horses might be more practical. I know they also make the 9.9 as well. Reading, I've also seen where some 15 horse motors weigh roughly the same as certain 10 HP motors.
This is 12' long and 55" at its widest point. Mainly I'm looking to find the model name (perhaps River Boat?) and model year.
Thanks,
Bob
