Not sure if this post goes here or boat talk...anyways.
My boats rated for a 35hp tiller or 60hp console.
I know a guy that has a 60hp tiller on his mossing boat and would to trade me for my 30hp.He is not worried about speed only gas savings and I wouldn't really mind a bigger outboard.
I think why my rating is higher on the console(60hp)is because of weight issues in the stern,if it were a tiller.Correct me if I'm wrong.
My thinking is if I were to add floatation pads(sponsons)to offset the weight do you think the authorities would have a problem?
Is there a way to get "certification"with coast guard or something?
I'm pretty sure the insurance flag will be risen so I guess I'm just wondering about certification and if the weight issue is why a console can have a bigger outboard.
1 more question maybe another post...Does everyone have insurance on their boats?I don't,unless maybe my house insurance has something,no riders.
