Hey guys! This is my first post on here. My father in law just gave me his old boat, and I am beyond excited to repair it :-D. I was just wondering if somebody might be able to answer a couple questions about it.

what company made it?
what year it was made? (approximate)
weight capacity?
motor capacity?

Try TIN BOAT's search function:
https://www.tinboats.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=19214 is one thread.

And Google and Bing searchs may help you track down the specific mfr. Sears, Wards, etc, all had boats made for them, sometimes to their spec, sometimes just re-labelled.

Congrats, it's gonna be fun and work.

Your boat according to the side plate/decal is a Sea King made by Montgomery Ward. Montgomery Ward had a variety of manufactures make their aluminum boats for them including Star Craft and Arkansas Traveler. On your transom usually held in place with tacks there should be a 1 or more metal tags that give the boat Identification and capacities. If your boat is older than 1972/1973 ( sorry I cant remember which ) then their should be an OBC/OBCA tag showing capacities sometimes model & capacities according to year/model. If it is 1972/73 or newer than their will be a USGC plate/sticker/tag and a model tag on the transom. If you got a title great if not I'd suggest getting one before you put any work into it. According to what state your in this can be easy or difficult. If tags are on the transom then I would check out fiberglassics they have huge online archives of boats which in most will give you capacities & year of manufacture for specific boat model. Though Sea King contracted with many local manufactures in many regions of the country due to high shipping costs which makes them hard to ID without data plates. I am excited to see progress on your boat as I also have a boat sold under the Montgomery Ward name Sea King. Mine is a 1961 Sea King (by title & transom Tag) PDUT-14 manufactured by Rebco a Division of South West MFG Co of Little Rock Arkansas ( AKA Arkansas Traveler ) My boat is the same as Arkansas Traveler DUT-14. Sometimes ID tags are lost to time due to the way they were installed. I hope this gives you some good info & I wish you the best of luck with identifying the year model and capacities of your boat.
