Hi guys, reelal here I'm a newbie. I have a 1986 alumacraft bandit that I need the numbers off of the
capacity decal so I can get a new one. can anyone help with this? I Really enjoy the forum. I am
presently replacing the front and rear decks and carpeting. The decks stood up pretty well for 26
years, I hope my replacements last as long. Everybody keep up the good work. Thanks.

To determine Occupant capacity multiply the Length X Width then divide by 15.
i.e. 14' x 36" Jon Boat. 14x3 / 15 = 2.8 Persons
To determine Weight capacity multiply occupants X 150.
i.e. 2.8 Persons x 150 = 420 lbs

your formula does not add up..unless im mistaken.

my boats 16ft with a 65'' beam or width. figure mine out and it tells me my max occupancy is 6.4 persons

and my weight capacity is 960 lbs

my USCG rating or tag says 5 occupants and 825lb maximum

Let me try this one.... Boat builders prefer to err on the side of caution, better to give the consumer a lower number. Plus, the formula is not an exact science. It is only to give you an idea of safe capacity. Also, beam and floor width are different. If I am not mistaken, the beam is measured at the top of the hull and what the formula is calling for is the floor width, which will be more narrow. I am only guessing but I would bet you have a 1648 boat as I do because my boat is rated for the same capacity as you do. Then again my Grandpa had a 1648 that was rated for 4 people and somewhere around 600 lbs and a lower hp rating too. From what I can tell the construction is pretty much the same. The ribs are spaced the same, seat layout the same, gauge of aluminum appears to be the same. So why the different ratings? Heck if I know! Ha ha
