Just got my 15' smokercraft bass catcher, the carpets faded and has holes, the wood is still solid... i was thinking about just carpeting over the existing carpet and then a few years down the road ill redo the wood and carpet.

But for now... whats the best way to carpet over whats there? Just lay it down and staple it?
Do i have to use any glue around the edges?

Thanks

Either just get rid of the old carpet & then put the new down or just live with the old carpet. The way that your planning on would hold more moisture in rotting the present wood quicker & you most likely would not be able to reuse the carpet you just put down. My suggestion is to rip out what carpet is there, remove old carpet glue with acetone, reseal good wood, replace rotted wood, & then re-carpet. I just think that this would be the most cost effective in the long run.
