First let me say I did a search but didn't find info on the subject. I bought a dual purpose battery from auto zone for the trolling motor only. Should I charge this after every outing like you would a deep cycle battery or will it shorten the life span?

Charge it as soon as you get home every trip.

I have a 36v trolling motor and a 45hp outboard. I didn't have the money for new batteries when the 36v fell in my lap so I just threw my 24DP in with the 27Deep cycles. I know it isn't the textbook best setup but it has worked well for me for the past year.
I recharge them as soon as I get home from every trip. It is important not to let them sit without a full charge.
