I just purchased a 12-volt Minn Kota Traxxis 55 trolling motor. I would like to use two 12-volt marine batteries hooked up together. I obviously don't want a 24 volt hook up, so how do I use both batteries at the same time and still maintain a 12 volt system. Is it possible? If so, how do I connect them together?

Thanks

You would just hook then up in parallel. Here is an image I found for an example.

and you'll want both batteries to be identical.. the same size, and if possible, the same age.

Yea, but even with that, parrellel batteries can have issuses. If you short a cell in one, the other will continue to try to charge it, wasting both batteries.

Get the largest DC you can fit, and get a second for the reserve if you really need it. If swapping cables midstream is a pain for you, get a battery switch.

Another option is two 6V high reserve golf cart batteries in series.
