Quick question:

I'm sure this has been gone over a 1,000 times but I cannot find much info on it. I'm currently in the process of setting up a new duck/fishing boat. During the fishing season, I plan on using a foot controlled trolling motor and a depth finder. These two are going to be ran from a 27 series deep cycle battery, which is mounted up front.

During duck season I am going to remove the trolling motor, sonar, and front battery. I am going to need a battery for an electic start 25hp motor, gps (only ran while under power), led light (bluewater lights are awesome!!..thanks to this site), and my front and rear nav lights. So what type of battery should I get for the "duck season" set up? Would just a cranking battery be enough? or do I need to get another deep cycle type?

Sorry if this has been answered already.

Thanks for the help!

Although it's best to have a cranking battery for the outboard, you could just use the size 27 you've got and save yourself the cost of another battery. I ran a deep-cycle 27 as a cranking battery for a while and had no issues with it...but then I joined this site and now, after countless mods, I have 3 batteries. :LOL2:
