I have an older aluma craft 14' shallow v. My boy just turn 2 and would like a safe boat for him. I have been lurking here for awhile getting ideas and such on a conversion for this boat. my question is should i sell this one and get a deeper v or will this one be fine if i put a floor in it. I know its a hard question to really answer but anybody that has kids and fishes out of one of these please chime in. And Thanks for the great site its addicting!

Deep V boats are more stable.....might not have the lines as a mod v or flat bottom, but they are defiantly provide a stable ride. I have both kinds and my deep v is better for choppy waters.

My boat is pretty shallow and I love it. But a buddy has an older deep v and while it may be heavier and slower than mine, its peace of mind in big water or if your around careless boaters.

Just looking at pics but on my shallow v my side walls would be 20" but on a deep v the floor would be higher so about the same wall hieght if that makes sense. all i have around here are small lakes so waves wouldnt be out there when real windy anyway

probably a dumb question but has any body raised there side walls, if so what did you use or could use? Please be patient just trying to get it right and safe

i have a 14.5 ft. shallow v g3. i weigh 245 lbs. and i can stand at the very front and wizz over the side without any stability issues at all.its a 65" beam.not reccommended for open water but never an issue on fair sized lakes.mine's decked at the top of the seats.

Can't beat a steady hand.
