No - the cavitation plate should be level or just below the bottom of the boat.

Raise it until it either (1) ventilates, or (2) loses water pressure. Without a hyd jack plate, it will probably ventilate (blow out) before it loses water pressure.
 
Looks like a good starting point, you may have to go up or down still, depending on how she handles.
Different hulls, motors etc.,have different heights.
Like mentioned above, just make sure the motor has a good flow of water(pumping good).If you go to high you can lose your water pressure(not good).Your rpms will increase and your prop sounds like it's out the water, when ventilating.

No ,it is fin, as you run the cav plate needs to be just under the water or, you wont get lift and good control :) Hope this helps
 
Great thanks fellas I think I found the right hole/height to run my motor. Got up to 22mph yesterday.
