Hello there.

I stumbled across these forums and their is a lot of great info and people on here. I recently scored a deal on an older 1432 jon boat. Im unsure of the make of it but the title says its a 91'. This boat came with a trailer and trolling motor for $200. So of course it needed some work and a little TLC. The previous owner decided to do some modifications to it on his own. They were nice ideas, but after looking at them I found ways I could improve on his ideas some and keep it an inexpensive project. I am new to owning a jon boat and did a little research first. After that I kind of just went after it with the little bit of carpentry background I have. So keep that in mind while checking it out. I am open to constructive criticism by all means. Ill post pics up shortly, took her out for her maiden voyage this past weekend here in Clearwater.

After I took delivery of her and stripped out all the old junk

New removable cedar decking I made for the floors. Stained and sealed with semi transparent pewter stain.

Pressure washed and cleaned. Then painted light grey with flooring paint

Cut and mock fit all new panels. All were painted/sealed prior to attaching the grey outdoor carpet

New trolling motor leads wired in up front from my seasense 5 gang switch panel in the back (not installed yet in the pic)

Test fit of added center support for rear compartments that are part of the deck. Painted and sealed after the pic was taken.

Prepped and made repairs to outside. Then did two coats of paint on her to finish it off

Of course I made new guides and wired in some l.e.d. taillights on top. I'm running a bilge pump, bow and stern lights, as well as a switch to turn the trolling leads on and off from my switch panel. All fused and running safely. Took her out this past weekend and she ran like a champ. Picked up that 15 hp 2 stroke mercury for a deal too. All in all I have about 1300$ into everything. Thanks for checking it out

Thanks Johnny! I appreciate the kind words. I was flying by the seat of my pants with this project. The decking was mainly designed with the idea of pressure redistribution, as it sits only on the support ribs. And it's notched to lock it in place.

Very clean and stylish work on your boat, Sir.

You may not have experience, but your sense of craftsmanship shows through.

Thank you Kismet. I just wish I was better at taking more pictures and documenting all the work and time through the process. I get so caught up in doing the task that I don't even think about it till after its done.

Thanks Fire! Now all that's left is to land some decent fish. Im going to try launching at a few different spots here locally. Everyone is so tight lipped about spots these days, so its just going to take me some time to learn the local waters here. Im used to fishing from land, so its a whole new world for me. We caught a lot of large ladyfish and some trout on the first trip out. Looking for some reds and snook though. Everything held up well, electronics worked and we didn't sink  so it was a great success otherwise

got so excited to get it out on the water we forgot to stop and get bait for the little 5 gallon live well in the seat. we had the net, but no whitebait to be found anywhere
