Bought my first boat to build. Got the widest, deepest, most reasonable priced boat I could find. My problem is, I dont know where to even start! I want a floor, small casting areas in the front and back. No livewells. Ive been reading a ton of posts on floors, but no one actually says what materials they used, or how the did it. Im worried that if I put a floor in it, water will just be trapped in it, because there are no grooves going to the transom like most jons...the first 2 pictures are of the boat I bought, and the last one is the design im going for. Any suggestions will help me greatly! Thanks!!

That's a nice boat to start with. What is it how long, wide ect ect?
As for drainage it looks like where the floor meets the sides the ribs are open for water to get by.

Please keep in mind that these are just my thoughts :)

I see you have the boat empty, fill it up with water and identify any leaks. When everything is out is a great time to make hull repairs.

Go with 1/2" ply for floors if you can (lighter wieght). Seal it w/ 2-3 coats of paint or spar urethane. No PT wood, exterior grade ply works just fine.

Gonna need to see some pics on this, does it not have strakes?

Take your time and do it right, also if you get frustrated take a break, try to enjoy the build. Also, ask any question you may have, the people here are very helpful.

Good luck
