I have a few questions for those with fish finder experience.

My next boat will be the first to have a fish finder, or finders, on it. It seems the current trend is to put one on the console, and one on the front casting deck. I'll be doing the same thing, but I need opinions on which FF's, and what beam in each location.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like you'd want the narrower beam up front, for more detail of whats under you, and the wider beam on the console, just to get a basic feel for the terrain under the boat while you drive to different spots? Is that the right idea?

Does anyone have suggestions of what fish finders to get? I'm looking to spent 200 on one, and 250 on the other, or less. I'm opting out of GPS for now, because I'm poor, and because I'm simply mounting my car gps when I go out, because it atleast shows me where I am on the lake, and I can mark the boat launch on it. I'm unsure of what size screen to get, alothough it probably doesnt matter. Would I want a smaller one up front, and a larger on the console so my coangler can see it easier from a distance?

Any advice would be great! Enlighten me

You are on the right track.

I have an Eagle 320 on the front and a Cuda on the console. I normally turn the smaller one off when I get to where I'm going to save on battery. The coangler doesn't need to see that one to fish. I just need to see what's down there to find it for the both of us. I have several buddies that keep turning it back on for some reason. I'm not sure if they think it ups their chances to be able to see a fish on the screen or what the deal is there.

I was gonna buy a eagle 320 myself, can get them for 139.00 at academy, I ran across a eagle 500c used for 140 so i bought that instead... So i vote eagle 320... :)

No, but basically in brand new condition. It comes with everything I need. I've never owned one, but I certainly need one considering I can't really locate depth or drop offs lol.

I also used the Live.com and Ebay Cashback partnership to get another 10% off. If you've never heard of it, read up on it. Last year (it's since gone down) they were offering 40% (the %'s fluctuate) off on certain things if you paid by PayPal and you were willing to wait the 60 days to get the cashback in your PayPal account. I bought a brand new 25" LG LCD tv for 200 off ebay, works flawlessly. You only can use this discount 10 times, so use it wisely! I usually wait for the discount percentages to go up, but figured I wanted this now so I used it.
