hey everyone, newbie here. i am wanting to add a floor to my 1964 starcraft seafarer 14 footer.

question for all the guys and galls who have made there floor, how did you guys level off the floor so when in the water it sits flat?

any help would be great thanks

I put a 4' level between two of the bench seats then lowered the trailer tongue until it read level. When I slid the floor into the groves on the boat they were level, so I guess I could have skipped the step with the level but I wanted to make sure.

did you just do say a 2 inch high floor all the way down? or did it change in depth from front to rear?

I set the floor in the grove that runs the length of the boat (see picture). The floor I put in was done in two sections between the benches.

This is a crude drawing of what the floor looks like that I put in, I don't have any pictures of the floor before I put it in. When I dropped it in to check the fit it was tight and I would have had to cut it out.

You can check out my build for a little more information. https://www.tinboats.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=13674

I was just looking at your build thread, as you can see, your bench seats sit lower in the boat then mine do.

yah mine are also not it the right spots there supose to be. can you give me a measurement from the bow, center, and stern as what your heights were before you put in the floor?

doesnt your groove go deeper in teh fron then the back? mine does

I don't have the measurements that you are asking for, sorry.

I believe the groove stays the same all the way along the boat until it turns up close to the bow. Without the floor in the boat the distance from the top of the seat to the bottom of the boat would be greater at the bow due to the deep V. When the boat is in the water more of the v is under water, at the stern the boat is sitting more on the water than in it.

Look at the groove in this picture, it's pretty level with the water line.

cool if mine does that which i am going to have to check then i will have lots of storage area under the floor to make for rods and such.

i will have to drop mine in the water and see tomrrow
