the local parts store has "Recon" batteries. what they are is new old stock batteries that got rotated out of the chain stores, are charged, tested and resold as "reconditioned" batteries. I asked them if they could get deep cycles and they ordered me two group 24's for $45 Out the door. They have a 30 day warranty. They are also marked when they were made - 1/2011 so not even that old. I'll report back on how they do but looks to be a good alternative to a Craigslist used one or even a cheap Everstart.

 Cheaper is not always better, especially with batteries. What size trolling motor do you have? I personally would not use anything less than a 27 series. My boat has 31 series batts. I have the same amount of power after 6-8 hours on the water and could never pull that off with 24 series batteries.

I have used 'Recon' batteries in my vehicles for years. The one in my daily driver is going on six years old. It was $25 when purchased.
