Hi everyone new to the site hope to get some awesome feedback

My dad and I Just bought a 16 foot modified V Jon boat which is 65 inches wide, Mostly going to be used for fishing and hunting. Anyways I recently bought a new motor which is a 30hp Evinrude tiller, the motor weighs a good 100 pounds and Im about 270lbs (im not fat either just a college football player) along with the gas tank and battery back there. Is this to much weight in the back of the boat? Should I move things around like the gas tank and battery up to the bow?

Also the other thing was I do want to buy a Minn Kota trolling motor which I did want on the stern, but considering all the weight that will be back there im worried it should go in the front? Just food for thought

Thank you for the help all thoughts and considerations are welcomed.

Welcome aboard! Post some pictures of your boat. It's easier to give advice with pics.

I was about 280 lbs (mostly fat  ) when this video was shot.
I've lost a lot of weight since then, thankfully.

As you can see it could still scoot right along.
My boat is a 16' semi V with a 30hp Johnson tiller. I would expect your mod V to perform as well, or better.
I had the battery up front and 6 gallon tank sitting next to me.

awesome, Yeah Im just trying to figure it out because we did put a 15 horse on there for hunting last season (to see if the boat wasnt taking on water) and it worked fine with me and a gas tank in the back with no issues. But with the addition of a 30hp motor and me along with a gas tank i feel like the back end was going to be to far in the water letting the wake go over to top of the transom. Thank you for the input and video

I saw that you had cables running from the front to the back of the boat for the stern mount trolling motor. Where could i get one of those?

I bought 20' jumper cables and put battery terminals on the ends.

Hmmm...Sounds scary. I have plenty of space to the water line. I have 20" transom though.

Yeah my transom is only 15 inches so i have a short shaft Evinrude on there. I will have to check and see what works and what doesnt. Looks like ill have to get the money for the bow mount, just to reduce the weight in the back of the boat.
