Great day of fishing but had a blow out.

Caught 21 trout today. It was a bit chilly with a high of 40, drizzle and a 10 knot breeze. The action kept me warm for the most part.

Unfortunately, the right trailer tire had a blowout a few miles from the lake on the way home. I had hit an unexpected pot hole on the way to the lake and it must have damaged the tire. The tires were only one season old. I was towing about 62 mph and the trailer felt funny. Looked in the mirror to see a lot a smoke and then the tire exploding a second later. I should have inspected the tire after the pothole.

Any tips on cleaning rubber off of the fender and side of the boat? I’ll pressure wash it tomorrow but, expect there will still be a significant mess.

In case anyone is wondering, that was mostly catch and release. Nineteen trout went back in the lake and two for the table.

Good day for fishing, eh? That's more fish than I catch all season.
Your pressure washer will remove most of the tire bits. Maybe use a plastic pot scrubber or nylon brush and you should be good to go.

I’ve had a couple blowouts over the years. Never fun. The metal fenders protected the boat fairly well. I’ve seen others with plastic fenders get shredded. Glad you had some good fishing to offset the misery.

Thanks, guys. Will try the pressure washer and pot scrubber method. It certainly could have been a lot worse. The tire outfit will love me, just replaced the tires and wheels on a tandem bobtail trailer last week.

The trout fishing up here is insane in the late fall. The time before last I netted 23 rainbow at the same lake. (All catch & release.) Usually fish about 3 to 3.5 hours per outting.

Also, did well fly fishing a mountain pond/lake a few weeks ago and landed a bakers dozen of cutthroat. The largest at 21” made my day. It was towing me around in the little 8 ft cataraft. The wife asked why I didn’t to get a photo but, I was worried about dropping the cell phone in the drink. The fish wasn’t exactly laying still either. That pond got snow this week and it’s closed until late spring.

The snow will be flying in earnest soon but, still hope to get in some Spey fishing for Idaho steelhead before the temps make it too miserable.

That sounds like great fishing. Thanks for posting the fish reports. I have to travel a minimum of 2 hours to get into the good fishing, but worth it just the same. Northern lakes are just gorgeous.
We'll be getting snow tonight but not much. Maybe an inch.
I may try some riverbank fishing if the weather warms toward the weekend as they are predicting. I'll post pics if I do go.
