Greetings, I am looking forward to being involved with this community in the coming months. I found the place thanks to your youtube video showing off some of your members' Jon boat conversions .... nice jobs.
Anyways, I was wondering if some of y'all might help me out with something? Two things actually.
1) What is the longest, largest, Jon boat available out there and who makes it? Is there a law of dimenishing returns when it comes to the length and width of Jon boats?
2) I spent some time in South and Central America in the eighties and I remember these long, long river boats that were V hulled at the bow and then rounded at the stern ... but it was not uncommon to see the natives stacking riders three wide and four rows deep in these boats headed up river being pushed by little Johnson 7.5s. Anyone know if there is a boat that fits that description available in the southeastern U.S.?
I live on a river these days and I'm looking for something longer and wider than your typical 10-14' flat bottom Jon boat.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
I supposed transporting it might be some sort of issue - I'm sure if they make the boat then they'll be a trailer for it, right?
The river I am on dumps into a large lake. I'm looking for something that I can motor around in, loaded down if necessary, up and down the river and then out into open water and back. No intention of putting decks on it whatsoever. More likely to be used by my brothers and me to load full of camping, hunting and fishing gear and head up the river for long weekends in the wild. No white water use expected ... our rivers are all fairly deep water with few obstacles other than the occasional floating log of course.
