Handle on Jon boat

Just got a new 1542 tracker Jon boat and was wondering if the handle on the front is strong enough to winch to , or should I attach an eye to it ? Any suggestions ?

Is there any reinforcement on the back side of the handle? If not, you could add some and it should work just fine. However, I'll defer to other Tracker 1542 owners.

I always winched my Tracker 1436 to that front handle and never had a problem. I couldn't see it being any different for the 1542.

The only issue I ran into was the winch hook didn't fit the handle well. I ended up installing a stainless steel u-bolt.
