Has anyone fished Lake Springfield Illinios???

I'm heading there the weekend of March 21st and was wondering how fishing is there.

Sorry I haven't fished it yet.
Check out Larry's Fishing Hole. He does a decent job of posting weekend fishing conditions for most of the lakes in the area. He does have a listing for Lake Springfield. Look for the Fishing Report link on the top left of hte site main page.

Check NOAA for the local flood stage before you leave. We are having severe flooding along the Illinois River right now.

This is my home lake and I love it. I mostly fish for big cats, but the bass population is very good. In addition, lots of people fish for crappie. Lake Springfield is a power plant cooling lake and if you can stick with the original creek bed, you'll do fine fishing for cats. In the spring, we've easily boated 50+ a day ranging from 1 lb to 10 lb.

like c-ramey said, I grew up nearby and did a lot of fishin for cats, haven't been back for 10+ years though
