I'm not reading any desire for recovery from anyone, including myself. The first step to recovery is admittance.
Same for me. My boat was purchased by my Dad in 1986. I could afford something bigger, faster, nicer, but I won't do it even with its limitations. I enjoy working on it as much as I enjoy fishing out of it. Not very logical, but satisfying to the core. When I was 3 my dad bought a 1966 Lund C-14 Fisherman--brand new. He named it "Maromist" using the first two letters of each of his four son's names.
I learned to fish in it. I took my HS buddies fishing in it. My nieces learned to ski behind it. As my dad aged, I took him fishing in it. He can't get in it any more so I wheel him onto my brother's pontoon to fish, and that old Lund is mine.
I could buy nearly anything on the market but that tinny is the only boat I'll likely ever have. My friends love it almost as much as I do. 57 years of memories in that boat--an upgrade would have none of those features.
Sometimes I envy live wells, rod storage, high speeds and roomy decks. But not for long.
Over the years I have fabricated many bolt on light duty hitch recievers, not really that hard if your staying below 2000 lb cap.Try and find a hitch for a 1995 Oldsmobile silhouette!
