Humminbird Questions

I was all set to go to the bps classic this coming weekend and pick up a 587ci HD combo for $470, then I got a Gander Mtn ad today, and they have a 788C on sale for $450. On paper it seems like the 788C is a better deal, but it also seems like it might be discontinued. So I was just looking to field some opinions here about which is the better unit. I would also want to get the lakemaster chip for humminbird for the new unit. I don't know if that is compatible with both units or not. Thanks, here are the two units.

What did you end up getting? i am going to contact humminbird to see if we can get a resource here. That would be cool.
