I got a battery question

When it comes to boats outboards that have electric start of say the 40 hp variety. Is it necessary to use a marine battery or are typical auto or deep cycle batteries aceeptable ?

If you are just using it as a cranking battery, a normal battery will work just fine.

They all will work fine as long as theres enough cranking amps.
