now can i put filler primer over the etching primer

sorry waterwings didnt catch you reply when it was posted ya i could sand it down a little more but would like to build the primer a little more i have some filler primer and the filler primer would take care the the light scraches that i missed when fine sanding

The etching primer is your BASE coat, so anything else you place on it should adhere well. This would include filler primer. Just dont sand too much after you spray the filler.

Yep

That's a sweet old boat, and after seeing the 1st pic, it'd look great with a bare aluminum finish 8) Not sure if they make clearcoat for bare aluminum.......

thanks ithough i could over coat with the filler primer but wanted to be sure i also liked the bare metal look and almost went that way now i have to come up with a color and what type of paint to use

i have spent the last 4 weekends working on this old boat today we put the paint to it still alot of work to do to it the color which was one of the hardest parts trying to come up with just the right color ordered the paint on thursday came in this morning only 2 things went worng i oreded grandbanks beige but when we started spraying the color looked off they sent me bristol beige i think and the 2nd thing was while setting up to do the second coat the spray gun tipped over spilling a qt of paint  at 40 dollars aqt and oh ya 1 more when i ordered the paint it was 32 dollars a qt when i picked it up it was 40 dollars a qt took some pictures to post but they didnt come out good will try again tomorrow the paint i used was interlus polyurethane gloss finish with teflon got a heavey due out tonight hope the paint has set or the due will kill the shine

Glad you got it done. Painting can be a bear, between all the mixing, airlines, extra room needed to walk around.....it's easy for thinks to go wrong, I know #-o

Looking forward to the pics of that boat!

...when i ordered the paint it was 32 dollars a qt when i picked it up it was 40 dollars a qt

The dealer/store where you got it wouldn't honor the price you ordered it at?! I don't know the entire story, but they should have ate the over-cost and honored the price at the time the order was placed. Just my opinion.
