Can I use a inline fuel filter made for a lawnmower on my boat motor or would it be too small and restrict the gas flow?

I would opt for a water separating filter to be on the safe side
A lawn mower filter will remove the small particles and should work for that as long as in is big enough for the HP motor you have...

I agree with this.A lawn mower filter will still let fine particles through that can still clog a small carb over time.

Be careful using inline filters that are not designed for gas/oil mixture and are for filtering gas only. It's safer to stick with the stuff designed for outboard use.
