LDUBS said:That style/design of vertical bunks is very normal for small tin boats. I see them at the ramp all the time. I don't have that design myself, so can't comment on the length of the 2x4 bunks, other than they should extend far enough back to at least support the transom.
Kismet, those rollers still roll, but there’s pieces broken off of a couple of them, so I went ahead and got new ones. Thanks for the tip about the silicone spray!Kismet said:Until you get to the stage of "make it really purty," you should be able to use those rollers, if they roll. A little silicone spray and they'll look black.
Do the stuff you have to do and worry about cosmetics on the rollers later.
Have fun, be safe, and take lots of pictures. =D>
MrGiggles, it is a tilt trailer. After doing some research, I found out that they’re supposed to be that way. I’m gonna cut new ones the same length and cover them with indoor/outdoor carpet. I’ve already picked up some new rollers to replace the old ones. This is my first boat, but I’m learning a lot from this site and Google! Thanks for the reply.MrGiggles said:Those short pivoting bunks were common on small tilt trailers. Can't tell from the pic if that has a tilt mechanism or not.
They work just fine. Depending on the weight of the boat, you may want to make the bunks longer. Most of the weight in smaller boats is over the transom, where those short bunks are.
CedarRiverScooter, not yet, but that’s on the to-do list. Thanks!CedarRiverScooter said:Have you repacked the bearings?
