hello im new to the site I've been reading all kinds of stuff on here and my mind is over loaded. I would like help modding this boat. I would like to fish out of it in the shallows for trout and reds but I would also like to go scalloping out of it I think she needs a deck on the front to the first bench seat and a small deck in the back with a sub floor in the middle but im not sure if this would be too much weight do to the extra stuff and my self being 300 pound plus if I took someone with me or deck the whole thing and make it a flats style boat but that would take time and money which I have plenty of time but I have little money I would have to slowly buy the stuff and build as I used it so any ideas would be great

thanks for you time

yep, correct diagnosis of a new boat owner !!! and :WELCOME: to the site !!

BEFORE you start cutting out seats, drilling holes and going wild . . . . .

get yourself a glass of cold ice tea and walk around your new ride with a pad of paper and pen.
take notes, draw up some sketches, ponder over in your mind of WHAT you will be using the boat
for 75% of the time and set yourself a goal. A light at the end of your tunnel.
THEN - take on ONE project at a time !!! BE FLEXIBLE !!! we often change our minds mid stream.
if you try to get it all done at once, with little to no budget and time, you may get so overwhelmed and
exasperated so quickly, you just might throw in the towel.

GOOD LUCK !!! HAVE FUN with your new ride

The first thing I did was replace the rotten half inch ply wood floor in my jon. I replaced it with seriously weather proofed (4 coats of paint both sides) 5/8" exterior ply wood. After a few trips I tired of it rattling against the cross members and removed it. I cut up an old tire tube and stapled (Stainless staples) doubled over pieces to the wear marks on the bottom of the ply. I secured it back in the hull with just 2 stainless screws. No more rattles. Much, much better.
