This is my 4999th post on Tinboats. and I'm officially announcing the return of my 1971 Wards Sea King1436 jon boat!
Several years ago, I Gave up duck hunting which was the reason I had my jon boat. Since then, my brother has had my boat at his lake front house.
He is on a lake that doesn't allow motors, gas or electric. Sail boats and row boats only. Last year one of my brother's neighbors gifted him a 1436 jon.
Several friends and my girlfriend's son in law have taken up fishing recently and I own a rod, reel and line that I have to put together.
So, it's time to get my jon boat up and running. The transom and the foam in the bench seats need to be replaced. While the benches are out, I will be installing seat mounts in them.
I will be doing a new plywood floor, bow and stern lights and that's about it for the boat, very basic. I have to service my 1983 Mariner 25hp motor it should only need the impeller replaced.
I pulled a trailer I bought just before I stopped duck hunting out of the garage last weekend. It's a 1970' Yarbrough tilting trailer that should fit the boat much better. The old trailer was just barely long enough to hold the boat. I'll be posting in the motor and trailer forums about them.
I will be adding to this thread as the project moves forward, everything should be ready for next spring.
