Jon Boats

Jon boats are not real popular up in my area. I am thinking about buying one in the spring and would like a wide deep boat to use on the smaller lakes here. I have a 16 foot lund V bottom but cannot get it in some of the smaller lakes. I see on here Lowe boats seem to be popular. I would like around a 14 foot and very stable as my young grandsons will be with me alot of times. I have watched this form for a while and would like to knoe what the numbers mean ahead of the name. such as a 1436 lowe and such. I would like some recomendations as what maybe to look for as far as width and side depth. Most of the jon boats around here are very narrow ans have low sides. The numbers before the name are the size of the boat. For example, a 1436, would men the boat is 14 feet long and has a 36 inch wide floor.
