Took a friend from the other site I frequent perch fishing this morning. This past winter he invited me to ice fish a local private pond where I caught some real nice 9-10 inch Blue Gills. We drifted large fathead minnows on crappie rigs in 55 - 65 FOW straight out of the Waukegan Harbor on Lake Michigan. Considering the cold air and water temps, we did okay. Water temp was 37 degrees and air temp was 40 (without windchill). We caught 16 perch between us and when we split them up I guess he ended up with the two huge, fat monsters. They were both right at 15" and had a huge girth. Should put a flexible tape in the boat to measure things like that.

Anyhow, here's a crappy self timer picture of a couple that I brought home.

Ok I "sorta" believe that you went fishing, and it is possible you caught fish, I guess

But there is no way you have a friend and even more unlikely that you frequent another fishing forum

Please try to post accurate reports in the future

Nice job Popeye, did you happen to see a former member named Flounderhead while you were out there? i understand he fishes the same area. Now that guy could catch fish!

I have friends because I take them fishing. (sorta like the guys in PA where the dog plays with them because their mama ties a pork chop bone around their neck).

I taught that flounderhead guy how to fish. He was a good student but nothing like the master. On a side note, we are somewhat similar in appearance although I do believe I am a little better looking (thinner too)

I must admit, I do frequent another fishing site. It is a more localized one rather than this world wide one.

I was using my new fishing setup and it was sweet. If the winds wasn't blowing so hard I could've down sized the sinker size and it would have been even better.

We were past the second can by a little bit when we started. Ended up going a little more south.

way to tear them up! Glad you're able to get out on the water since it's not frozen.. I was going through withdrawals for ya, even though you ice fish

Good catch. Nice to see someone enjoying the good weather.

Had to postpone getting my boat back due to bad weather and salt on the road. Had a snowstorm Tuesday and had the boat scheduled to return on Wednesday. Hopefully when I pick it up on Monday it will be nice!

Good Catch'n! You guys got 1 hell of a good meal with those badboys right there.
