I have a set of Perko navigation lights on the boat I recently bought. There are only two wires using two pins this light calls for thee pin hook up .Do i need to buy a new base/Right now only the utilit light works,I was hoping to get by with what I have. Not a rel problem getting a new base .Just wondering if there was something I could do to make it work. The saying about not trusting what the previous owner tells you is so far spot on :---)

The Perko light bases that I installed on my G3 also had wires for three connections. Two is all that is necessary, one to the center connector and one for the case of the bulb. I wouod install the bulb and twist the wire together until you et the combination that turns on the light and then go with that.

If you are running or anchored at night, you'll have to wire them so the nag and white light are both on when running and only the all around white light on when anchored. Doing otherwise could get youa citation from an over-zealous game warden or lake patrol.

On some of the bases that use detachable lights, the third wire is for a 12V+ for nav lights that have a small deck light built into the back side of them, with a push-button switch. Not sure if yours is this type of light, but generally, that's what the third pin is for.

Mine has the white light with a switch, that's the only one that lights up red and green do nothing .Plugged the aft light in and it worked fine.Might need a new builb ,haven't found one yet. Thanks

Sorry for the late reply. If you have power at the deck light with the switch, but not at the nav lights, it's halfway right! The lead that runs to the switch should be continuous power. There should be another lead running to the light post that is switched power, coming from your nav light switch. If not, you'll need to run another wire, or split the existing wire to run to both positive terminals of the light base, and have them both controlled by the nav light switch.
