Long or short shaft outboard

I have a G3 1448 jon that has a 20 " transom .Would I be better suited with a short or long shaft outboard?

20" tall transom is a long shaft, a 15" transom is a short shaft.

You're better off with the outboard that fits your transom; in your case, that's a 20" shaft, aka a long shaft.

Long shaft. You will never get on plane with a short shaft unless it's a tunnel hull
