Marinedeck PTP...

Can anyone tell me a source for this? I'm starting to put together a plan for replaceing the transom in my Starcraft this spring and something like Marinedeck PTP that doesn't ever rot would be a great idea to use for this purpose I think.

I may know the product but I have never heard that specific name.You can purchase composite wood from a builders lumber company that doesn't rot.I don't know if Lowe's or the DePot has it.I know it can be bought 1 inch thick in widths from 4 inches to 8 inches.

The only Marinedeck I could find was called Marinedeck 2000 and it is flexible and contains cork. Can't see that working as a transom. I wouldn't even the composite boards that people use on decks. They have more flex to them than real wood and I wrote one of the companies about using it for my trailer bunk boards. The manufacturer recommended against it and recommended cedar boards

Yea that's true.There is alot of flex in those materials.

I saw it mentioned in a Polarkraft catalog. It was saying how it's guaranteed not to rot. I think they were using it for their transoms. I did a "google" search and every hit seemed to mention pontoon boats using it for their decks.

I haven't seen it in a pontoon yet.It must be some gud stuff.

If what you saw can be used for transoms, then the product I found can't be it. The stuff I found is a thin, flaxible cork based deck covering product.

Yeah, it may be similar to that. All I know is that it goes by the name Marinedeck PTP. Maybe I should just stick to 3/4" ply. The Lowes by me has it and it's seven plies!
