I was thinking about get one of these.Traxxis 55(thrust) 12 volt, 36" shaft for a L1648M. And just wanted to know if anyone/has or used this moter be for?
THANKS

unless that's going to be the only trolling motor your going to run - You can save the extra $50 and get the Endura 55...

I called minn kota and they told me that for my setup it was not worth the variable speed since the transom mount trolling motors on my rig stay stationary and are not used for steering

Yes this will be the only trolling motor i am using. and i was thinking of transom mount because i stay in back of boat . But let me say i am not that much of a fisherman.I just love to putter around and if i catch a fish great,if not then i had a great day of just being on the water and outside.Just wanted to know if anyone has this. This is how much i fish i am still using my rod from when i was a kid a org. ugly stick after all these years it is still working. and i love it. ABOUT MID 70S.

I don't have a TM,like that.

I think you will get more control pulling the boat(bow)then pushing it(stern).
Maybe you can look into a powerdrive model, they can be put in the bow and controlled from the stern. My old PD has the long cable but some are wireless and even have remotes.I'm sure motorguide has models as well.

Thats a pretty big boat and if you get in the wind with all the the weight in the stern....it's going to be a pain.

OK today i went and got one of thise and i hope to test this tomarrow. It weigiths alot more than i was thinking about 30lbs.So i hope to move from forward to aft. and see how it works.I say test because i am in the middle of a mod on my boat.
