My boat has 6 seat bases (the large 2 & 3/8" style), and overall they are about 8-9" in diameter & rise above the deck maybe an inch. 2 are at the console, and there are 2 behind these, just before the rear casting deck.

This rear area is only used as a place for coolers/gear storage. Bad thing is, the bases prevent coolers & tackle boxes from resting flat on the floor. Sooooo....I went yesterday, got 1/4 sheet of plywood (2'X4') and a couple 1"X2" firing strips, made a frame, fastened the plywood to 1-side, water-proofed it, and carpeted it. lol, best part was I'd found a piece of carpet left-over from a previous boat, and it matched the carpet in the current boat pretty well & was just the right size

Now I have a flat platform over the 2 rear bases that stuff won't wobble around & teeter -on. I'll get some pics next time I have the cover off.

lol.....knowing someone would say that (no pics) ....I just went out & took some  I needed to add a couple eye-terminals to a 12vdc power outlet & the FF, so I did that while I was there.

Here's the seat bases, they take-up a fair amount of floorspace as I'm sure you all know. The carpet I had was so close in size, I didn't have enough to wrap the ends.....but it didn't cost me anything, so I ain't gonna complain.

The cover just lays over them, no fastening, just a flat area to make setting things on a little nicer.

The far cooler is for bait ('crawlers, livers, anything that needs to be iced), the yellow tote is just overflow gear there isn't room for in the compartments ('cause I like to fill 'em with deep-cycle batteries :p ), and the near cooler is my new handy-dandy aerated live-bait keeper

The good thing is, when I use the PVC rod-holder I'd made, it sets directly over the top of the coolers, so they're out of the way & don't interfere with that.

Niffty set up.I like those round bases with the 6 mounting holes.Little to nice for my current boat but next spring I will hopefully find a larger nicer boat to modify. Then I'll drop a dime on some quality products.

Thanks....lol, but this was an easy one. The 48" width fell just a bit short (about 6") of spanning the floor between the rod lockers, but I didn't want to buy an entire sheet of plywood (or fool with cutting it) to span the entire width, and on the starbord side, the oar is mounted down low on the side of the rod locker, & I didn't want to fool with moving it either.

if you hade mounts on the bottom and some post you could use it for a table, lift it up but in the pedastal

Cool idea! 8) I could start my own gambling boat......"The Gray Ghost Gambling Boat & Saloon" .....has a nice ring to it  Of course, then I'd have to audition some "ladies" to work upstairs.......

You need to find or make some sort of storage container that is 6 inches wide.......

I considered adding a taller-section to it which housed a couple of PVC tubes, so once on the water I could slip my 2 landing nets into them.....but still have the emergency paddle to contend with. Probably have to fish out of it again & get a feel for it to see.
