Been busy the last couple of days and decided it was time to update on my progress and post some new pictures.

I got all the decks cut out and waterproofed. I also made some design changes since I drew on the one photo. The rod locker is gone! Cause I had to make room for my new permanent fuel tank. I got this 12 Gal tank to go in the boat and after looking at it.. and looking at the lay out.. decided that it would be better if it was up front due to weight distribution and I also wouldn't have to cut anything out of the bilge/battery area and get rid of some of the foam if I put it in back. So up front it goes.

I got the fuel line for it to run from the front to the back and routed that along the port bulkhead already. The trolling motor power line had to be moved to the far port channel in the floor to run underneath everything.

I ordered some drains and fittings and they came in so the cooler now has a drain going out of the bottom to empty into the bilge. I also got the frame for the cooler to sit level on fabricated.

So since I got rid of the rod locker, well cut it in half really, I've made a bulkhead to seal off the fuel tank/cooler area from the huge dry storage/tackle area.

All in all a pretty good two days worth. Enjoy the Pictures.

The new windshield came in today, so I was able to start the console fabrication. I wanted to be sure of the measurements before I started cutting.

I got it simi-mocked up. It's just a shell at the moment and there are a few gaps but i'm planning on filling those in or tighting it up then it's going to get fiberglassed so that I can paint it.

I got it about where I wanted it then sat down in the drivers position to check the fit. Seems too be really good and even thou it looks pretty high in those pictures it's not. It ended up being 4" wider than the old console and alot taller. I've now got plenty of room for switches and gauges and the other goodies i'm putting onto it.

For those of you that were curious on how I was going to build the console here's a few pictures.

I've been slacking for a few weeks with no updates for you guys. Sorry, I took some time off to do some actual fishing and other things that had to be done but I have been working.. just not as much. Anyhow, on to the updates.

I got the electrical ran.. Lots of wires strung throughout the boat. I got the new Livewell fill pump and recirculation pumps put in. I got my new transponder mounted to the rear of the boat. I had to remove the old one and replace the old screws with some new stainless one's with a good blob of 5200 on them. I also got the carpet for the storage compartment glued down to the panels and said panels installed.

I'm also still working on that console, I got it all fiberglassed and now i'm using filler on it and getting it smoothed out. Then I'll get some paint on it and start installing the hardware. I'm leaving all the console pictures for one big post of nothing but the process involved in that fiasco.

Enjoy.

I noticed the vls on the bow of the boat in your signiture. I am a plank owner on ddg-51, and that looks like a burke destroyer. Sorry to highjack, but started to get nostalgic when I saw the signature.

I posted hastfully. That looks more like a tico cruiser. anyway, tinboats is what we used to call our cribs.

Actually you were right the first time.. it's a Burke. I was a plank owner on 80 and my last duty station was on 60. I've been on all the small boy platforms. FFG (sucks) DDG (Fav) CG (Tico, Lehey, Belknap class's) I think the DDG's were my favorites.

After the Burke, I was on another destroyer. dd-979. The funny thing now is, if I would have reenlisted, I could retire this year. Graduated in high school in 1990. This would have been 20. Anyway, again, sorry to highjack. The mod is lookin good.

Mojo, looking good. Where did you find the drain for the cooler? Do you remember what brand it is? I have been looking for one similar.

Huntinfool,

Marine East. It's where I got the majority of the drains, I also picked up a gas overflow protector that you guys will see later in the build. Here's the link.
