Motor selection

I have a Yamaha F25C short shaft manual start. I love my motor, but was surprised to find out after I purchased it that it was very expensive to get a Yamaha 12v charging harness. I incorrectly assumed with batteryless EFI it would have most of the hardware to generate 12v already but apparently not. I was told msrp was over 500 CAD by yamaha canada. I assume its far cheaper if you have the electric start model but I wanted mine as light as possible.
